Event - NWS Storm Spotter Tour

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Goodland and Red Willow County Emergency Management invite you to attend a free, in-person Storm Spotter Class in McCook open to everyone. This year’s training will be held Tuesday March 19th, 2024 at the McCook Senior Center located in McCook, Nebraska at 1312 W 5th Street.

This year’s spotter class will include:
 Identifying thunderstorm types and features
 Learning how to stay safe while spotting and what not to do during hazardous weather
 Learn about landspouts and how NWS Goodland messages them
 Using radar to know what you are seeing in person (By Popular Demand)
 Identifying tornadoes from their look-alikes

Spotter reports are key to improving the quality and timeliness of our products during hazardous weather. Please don’t underestimate the value of your report during severe weather! We need your help in keeping our communities safe and making them more resilient to the impacts of hazardous weather.
