McCook MNB Seniors Takes Victory Over Gothenburg Senior Melons

McCook MNB Seniors  wins contest against  Gothenburg Senior Melons, 7-3

Gothenburg Senior Melons got things started in the first inning.  Wes Gieken doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the third inning, McCook MNB Seniors tied things up at one when Quentin Terry's sac fly scored one run for McCook MNB Seniors.

McCook MNB Seniors pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth Carter Larson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run and Brody Graham singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

McCook MNB Seniors put up four runs in the fifth inning.  The big inning was thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Tristan Campbell and Lincoln Michaelis and a groundout by Trenton Raile.

Gabe Roberts was the winning pitcher for McCook MNB Seniors. Roberts allowed five hits and one run over four and a third innings, striking out two.  Raile and Bryson Gullion entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Gieken toed the rubber for 2023 Gothenburg Senior Melons 18U. The bulldog allowed four hits and seven runs over four and a third innings, striking out three. Connor Mccoy threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.

Gullion led McCook MNB Seniors 18U with two hits in four at bats.

Sean Mients went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead 2023 Gothenburg Senior Melons in hits.  2023 Gothenburg Senior Melons tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Mients led the way with two.
