McCook softball falls short at Lexington
(Lexington, NE) - The McCook softball team would fall Thursday night at Lexington vs the Minutemaids by a final score of 7-6. Lexington would score the game winning run in the bottom of the 7th as a sacrifice bunt would be laid down. Emma Kehler would field the ball and throw to first to record the out. Lexington base runner Klair Fagot would take off from second and not stop there as she would round third and head home. Jada Berry would throw home to Gracie Nelson but the tag was just late and Fagot was safe at home to secure the win for the Minutemaids. McCook would trail 6-3 in the top of the 6th inning. With the first two batters on base for McCook, the Bison would tie the game in the top of the 6th at six runs a piece on a Lainey Schmidt three run home run. McCook softball now 6-8 on the year will be back in action Saturday at the Hastings St Cecilia invite playing Holdrege, St Cecilia, and Adams Central starting at 10am.
