Northwest volleyball sweeps York to advance to state


(York, NE) - The Northwest Viking volleyball team would defend their own state record on Saturday defeating the York Dukes in straight sets. 25-20, 25-16, 25-21. Northwest will head to the state tournament for the 22nd consecutive year which is the current and most trips to state in a row. The district final matchup with the Vikings and the Dukes was the 4th meeting between the two in two weeks. Northwest would go 3-1 vs the Dukes this season winning one match 2-0 in pool play in the Central Conference tournament and then falling 2-0 to the Dukes in the fifth-place match. Northwest would win the rubber match on Tuesday, October 18th in Grand Island 3-1. Northwest will head to state with a record of 21-14.
