Army String Band to Perform at Nebraska State Fair

The Nebraska State Fair will proudly kick off the America 250 Celebration by hosting the U.S. Army’s premier acoustic group, the Six-String Soldiers, on Veterans Day.
The Six-String Soldiers formed in 2015 after their rendition of “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles went viral on Facebook. Their country, patriotic and Americana performances have landed them television appearances on shows like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Some of the current members have also opened for and shared concerts with artists including John Mayer, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and The SteelDrivers.
The band is comprised of six members, all active duty: Master Sgt. Peter Krasulski, Master Sgt. Glenn Robertson, Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Bennett, Sgt 1st Class Renée Bennett, Sgt. 1st Class John Boron and Staff Sgt. Megan Haskell. Their music aims to inspire national pride and create greater connections between the public and the Army.
“We are incredibly excited to have such a prestigious band be part of the Veterans Program this year,” said Entertainment and Events Director Karli Schulz. “It’s truly one of the best ways we could celebrate the kick-off America’s 250th Anniversary, a highlight for anyone who gets to hear them perform.”
Six-String Soldiers will perform on Monday, September 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the Heartland Events Center during the Veterans Program. Guests can also hear them perform at 5 p.m. that evening at the Pump & Pantry Party Pit Stage.
The State Fair’s Veterans Day will also include a Veterans Resource Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Heartland Events Center and an Army National Guard Helicopter Display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lot 5, west of the Nebraska Building.
