Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton women's basketball team is returning to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history and eighth time in the past 13 years after earning an at-large bid to 2025 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship. The No. 9-seeded Bluejays (26-6) will meet No. 8-seed Illinois (21-9) on Saturday, March 22 at Camron Indoor Stadium in Austin, Texas.

A start time and television coverage will be announced later tonight.

Creighton is coached by Jim Flanery, who owns a 453-274 record in 23rd year with the Bluejays. This year marks his eighth trip to the NCAA Tournament at the Division I level, including the 2022 Elite Eight run. Under Flanery the Bluejays are 7-7 in the NCAA Tournament, reaching at least the Second Round in 2013, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2024.

Creighton is 0-1 all-time against the Fighting Illini, the last meeting came on December 6, 1991. That contest was an 87-71 game played in Corvallis, Oregon.

The winner of Saturday's Creighton/Illinois game will meet the winner of the game between No. 1 seed Texas (31-3) and the winner of the No. 16 High Point (21-11) versus No. 16 William & Mary (15-18).
