March 5, 2025 Eleventh Judicial District, District Court Judge Matthew D. Neher is resigning his appointment effective April 4, 2025.

Neher, based in Lexington, serves Nebraska’s Eleventh Judicial District (Arthur, Chase, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, and Thomas counties).

In his resignation letter to the Governor, Neher wrote, “I am very thankful for the opportunity you provided me when you appointed me to serve as a District Court Judge.  I have learned so much during my time in this position and will take with me the lessons that I have learned.”

Neher has served the citizens of the Eleventh Judicial District since his appointment on November 17, 2023.

The first step in deciding whether Neher’s judicial position will need to be filled is for the Judicial Resources Commission to call a meeting to determine, based on judicial workload statistics, whether his resignation creates a judicial vacancy on the district court for the 11th Judicial District.
