Fatality Accident in Lincoln County

On Monday, 4-14-25, deputies and first responders were dispatched to an injury accident. It was reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and hit a tree, near the intersection of North Prairie Trace Rd and West Snake Rd., North of Sutherland. When deputies arrived, Sutherland first responders were attending to the male driver, who was outside the vehicle. Deputies were told by first responders that the female passenger was deceased. The male driver was identified as 24 year old, Alexander Gomez of Sutherland and the Female was identified as 22 year old, Jade Torres of Sutherland. Evidence indicated that the vehicle, a 2014 Ford Explorer, was south bound on Prairie Trace at a very high rate of speed. The vehicle went airborn when it crossed the railroad tracks. It landed and went airborn a second time. While airborn, the vehicle rolled a ¼ turn. The roof of the car contacted a very large cottonwood tree. The roof was completely crushed into the passenger compartment. Mr. Gomez was Transported to Great Plains Health. He consented to a blood/alcohol test, which showed positive for alcohol. It was determined that he had a fractured neck, collapsed right lung, a fractured shoulder blade and bruising of the brain. At last report, he was still being cared for at Great Plains Health. He will be arrested at a later date.
