Gov. Pillen Praises Passage of Fiscally Conservative Mid-Biennium Budget Adjustment

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen has signed Nebraska’s mid-biennium budget adjustment as presented, without any line-item vetoes. LB 1412 and LB 1413 were introduced by Speaker John Arch on behalf of the Governor. LB 1412 passed on the final round of debate on a vote of 42-6-0. LB 1413 was approved on a vote of 37-8-3. Both bills are effective with an emergency clause.

Governor Pillen’s statement follows:

“I appreciate the hard and thoughtful work of Chairman Robert Clements and the other members of the Appropriations Committee. They brought a fiscally sound budget to my desk that fully funds the state’s education formula and provides virtually no other increases to the two-year budget passed in 2023. This budget reflects the conservative values of Nebraskan’s, and with that in mind, I encourage state lawmakers to continue to meet the expectations of Nebraskans by giving thoughtful consideration of LB 388 and LB 1331, designed to bring significant and transformative property tax relief.”
