Hits Aplenty In McCook MNB Seniors Victory Over Ogallala

Bats were blistered as McCook MNB Seniors defeated Ogallala Adams Bank and Trust 13-10 on Thursday at McCook. McCook MNB Seniors collected eight hits, while Ogallala Adams Bank and Trust had five. McCook MNB Seniors came back to win despite trailing 8-3 in the fourth. Ogallala got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kobe Florum was struck by a pitch, and Jessie Ortega hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. McCook MNB Seniors tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to an error, and a single by Noah Mashek. In the top of the second, Ogallala broke up the tie when Florum doubled, scoring three runs. Then a single by Josh Christensen followed to extend the lead to 6-2. Ogallala added one run in the third after Ogallala scored on a passed ball. McCook MNB Seniors flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 13-10 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two. Trey Tiller pitched three innings in relief for McCook MNB Seniors. They allowed four hits and three runs (zero earned) while, striking out two and walking three. Ollie Corbett started on the hill for McCook MNB Seniors. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and two runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking one. Bradyn Heilman stepped on the mound first for Ogallala. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and two runs (zero earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking one. Gabe Roberts provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led McCook MNB Seniors with four runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-5 on the day. Leadoff hitter Bryson Gullion led McCook MNB Seniors with two hits in three at bats. Brody Graham stole two bases. McCook MNB Seniors turned one double play in the game. Florum drove the middle of the lineup, leading Ogallala with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Christensen went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ogallala in hits. Ogallala had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Caden Rezac, Markell Macke, Ortega, and Jayden Curtis led the team with two free passes each.

McCook returns to action Friday vs Millard North at 6:30pm, Saturday vs Valley at 3:00pm, and Millard Gold at 5:30pm, Sunday TBD.
