Huskers Drop Top-20 Matchup in Big Ten Semifinal
No. 20 Nebraska suffered an 8-0 setback to No. 14 Oregon in Saturday night’s semifinal game at the Big Ten Tournament at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
Nebraska (42-15) recorded four hits, while Oregon (40-15) totaled eight runs and 10 hits.
Jeter Worthley had a double, while Case Sanderson, Jett Buck and Rhett Stokes recorded one hit.
Gavin Blachowicz fell to 4-3 on the season after allowing three runs on six hits with nine strikeouts and a walk in five innings. Cooper Katskee was tagged with four runs on three hits in 1.2 innings of work. Colin Nowaczyk recorded an out, and Tucker Timmerman and Pryce Bender each threw one inning in relief.
Oregon jumped out to a one-run lead in the top of the first with an RBI groundout after a leadoff double to left-center field to begin the game.
Solo homers in the top of the fourth and fifth innings extended the lead to 3-0 for the Ducks.
The Ducks blew the game open in the seventh with a two-RBI double and two-run homer that made it a seven-run game through seven innings.
A sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth plated Oregon’s final run of the night to clinch the Ducks’ 8-0 over the Big Red.
