The Nebraska men’s basketball program will play in the postseason, accepting an invitation to play in the inaugural College Basketball Crown later this month.

The College Basketball Crown takes place from March 31-April 6 in Las Vegas. The first two rounds take place at the Grand Garden Arena with the semifinals and finals taking place in T-Mobile Arena.

The Huskers will face Arizona State in the first round on Monday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. (central). The matchup will be the first meeting between the teams since 2008.  Tickets for the Crown are available now at VividSeats.com.

The first two rounds will be televised by FS1 while the semifinals and finals will be carried by FOX. All of the games will also be available on the Fox Sports app.

“We are excited to have an opportunity to continue our season and play in the first-ever College Basketball Crown,” Nebraska Coach Fred Hoiberg said. “When we met as a team following the regular season, the players wanted a chance to continue playing. This has been a resilient group, and we are looking forward to a chance to play in the Crown.”

The Huskers are led by first-team All-Big Ten guard Brice Williams, as the senior enters the postseason averaging 20.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. The 6-foot-7 guard was the first Husker since 2018 to earn first-team honors, as he led the conference in scoring in Big Ten play at 20.7 ppg. Williams has 17 games with at least 20 points, highlighted by a school-record 43-point performance at Ohio State on March 4. Williams’ 620 points ranks fifth on NU’s single-season list, while his 20.0 ppg average is the most by a Husker since Tyronn Lue in 1997-98.

Williams is one of three Huskers who enter the postseason averaging double figures. Senior Juwan Gary is averaging 14.0 points and a team-high 4.8 rebounds per game and enters the postseason with three straight 20-point games. Gary is averaging 23.0 ppg and 6.3 rpg over Nebraska’s final three games. Junior Connor Essegian is the third Huskers in double figures, as he is averaging 10.4 ppg and has a team-high 70 3-pointers. Essegian is ninth on NU’s 3-point list and ranks among the conference leaders in 3-pointers per game (2.3 per game) and 3-point percentage (.376).
