MCC’s Bobrov, Berg earn POW honors
McCook Community College baseball players Aviv Bobrov and Dalton Berg have earned Region IX Baseball weekly honors as pitcher and player of the week for the second week of the season, Feb. 9-15.
Bobrov, 5-11 right-handed pitcher from Shekhanya, Israel, opened the season in Texas tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out seven to earn the win. The sophomore was in complete control from start to finish, keeping hitters off balance and attacking the strike zone. He didn’t allow a run and surrendered just one single in the 13-0 win over the Dallas College Richland Thunderducks.
Berg, 6-0 sophomore outfielder from Frederick, Colo., had an explosive start to his season. In four games in Dallas, the left-hander batted .538 (seven for 13) scoring eight runs with two doubles, a triple, three home runs and 13 RBIs. He also drew five walks. He had 20 total bases and a 1.54 slugging average. He also walked five times, giving him a .666 on-base average.
