MCC’s Cory Wouters Gets Final Player of Week Honor

McCook Community College sophomore Cory Wouters picked up the final Region IX player of the week award.
Wouters, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was named the Week 14 Region IX player of the week award for April 28-May 4. For the final week of the regular season he hit .529 with nine hits in 17 at bats, including a double and three home runs with 12 RBIs. Those RBI totals helped him set an MCC single-season RBI record of 91.
He also won the award in Week 4 (Feb. 17-Feb. 23) and Week 10 (March 21-April 6).
The two-way player closed out the season hitting .437 with 20 doubles, 21 home runs and 96 RBIs with a .504 on-base percentage and an .859 slugging average. He finished the regular season with the third-most RBIs in the nation, and tied for eighth most home runs among players from 159 NJCAA D1 schools
For his career, Wouters batted .427 in 109 games with 32 doubles, 30 home runs and 140 RBIs in 379 at bats. He appeared in 20 games as a pitcher with a 7-10 record, a 7.57 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 82 innings pitched.
