MCC’s Phamotse ‘POW’ for second-straight week

For the second-straight week McCook Community College freshman Relebohile Phamotse (Maseru, Lesotho) has been named the Region IX South offensive player of the week.

For Week No. 6 (Sept. 21-27) in the Region IX schedule, Phamotse had 56 kills in three matches along with 21 digs, four assist blocks, one solo block and five service aces. She helped power the Lady Indians to a 3-0 week with a 3-1 win at North Platte, followed by a 3-1 win over Lamar Friday and a 3-0 win over Southeast Community College Saturday.

Among Region IX South players, Phamotse leads all players with a .333 hitting percentage, is second in kills per set with 3.40, and eighth in total kills with 177.

This week MCC heads to Western Nebraska Wednesday for a match against Western Nebraska, (4-0 in the south standings and 13-10 overall). On Friday, MCC will be home to host No. 19 Northeastern Junior College (4-0, 15-6) at 6 p.m. in the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center.
