McCook Airport Enters New Chapter with G2G Aviation as Fixed Base Operator
McCook, Neb. — September 2026 — After nearly two years of collaborative efforts to strengthen operations and position the McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport for the future, the McCook Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and City of McCook are pleased to announce that G2G Aviation, based in Wray, Colorado, has assumed Fixed Base Operator (FBO) services at the airport.
The transition represents the culmination of several major initiatives undertaken over the past couple of years following the bankruptcy of the airport's previous FBO.
Last fall, MEDC acquired the FBO facilities and airplane hangars through the bankruptcy proceedings. The acquisition was made possible through a generous anonymous grant through the Nebraska Community Foundation Fund and in partnership with the City of McCook. The effort allowed the facilities to remain under local ownership and control while providing the community with an opportunity to establish a long-term plan for the future of the airport and its aviation services.
“This has been a significant undertaking that required tremendous cooperation among MEDC, the City of McCook, our community partners and many others,” said Charlie McPherson, Executive Director of the McCook Economic Development Corporation. “Over the past couple of years, we have moved from considerable uncertainty following the previous operator’s bankruptcy to securing local control of these important assets, hiring a dedicated Airport Manager and partnering with an experienced private FBO operator. A great deal of time and effort went into reaching this point, and we are excited about the stronger, more sustainable future being created for the McCook Airport.”
Another important step came late last year when MEDC and the City began the process of recruiting a dedicated Airport Manager. Following an extensive interview and selection process, Chance Evans was hired and began serving in the position in January 2026.
The addition of a dedicated Airport Manager marked an important milestone for the airport, which had not had an individual solely dedicated to airport management in decades. The position provides day-to-day leadership and oversight at the airport while also relieving City staff of many of the daily operational responsibilities they’ve had to assume over the years.
“Hiring Chance as Airport Manager was an important step forward for the McCook Airport,” said McPherson. “In a short time, he has provided dedicated leadership, improved coordination among the airport’s partners and helped position the airport for continued growth. His knowledge, aviation experience, and commitment have already made a positive impact, and we are excited about the future under his leadership,”
With airport management in place, MEDC and the City turned their attention toward identifying a long-term FBO operator. Earlier this year, MEDC conducted a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process that generated interest from several qualified aviation companies.
Following a comprehensive review of the proposals, presentations and discussions with the candidates, G2G Aviation and Cory Clark emerged as the preferred operator.

Chance brings years of aeronautical experience to the position of airport manager, bringing a fresh perspective with him. All contracts between MEDC and G2G Aviation have now been finalized, approved and executed, clearing the way for G2G Aviation to officially assume FBO operations starting this past Sunday. "They understand aviation, they understand rural communities, and most importantly, they share our vision of what the McCook Airport can become. We believe they are going to be an excellent partner for the City, MEDC and the entire region," McPherson said.
As the airport's Fixed Base Operator, G2G Aviation will oversee services including aircraft fueling, hangar operations, airplane maintenance, and other general aviation services, while working alongside Airport Manager Chance Evans, City of McCook staff and the MEDC to continue expanding aviation activity and services at the airport.

The transition to G2G Aviation represents the latest step in a much larger effort to strengthen the McCook Regional Airport as an important transportation and economic development asset for McCook and Southwest Nebraska.
