NDOT May Traffic Fatality Toll

June 16, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of May 2025, sixteen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

¨ These 16 fatalities occurred in 14 fatal crashes.
¨ Four of the thirteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, six were using a seatbelt, and
three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
¨ Fifteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
¨ There were three fatalities on the interstate, thirteen on other highways, and zero on local roads.
¨ Three of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
There were 23 fatalities in May of 2024.
Only 25 of the 69 vehicle occupants killed during 2025 were using seatbelts.
