Preston Love Announces Senate Candidacy

Preston Love

Community advocate, educator, and award-winning author Preston Love announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate today surrounded by longtime supporters, elected officials, and community partners.

Love said of his candidacy, “I'm running for Senate to put people over politics. It's time for leadership that works to bridge the economic, partisan, geographic, and racial gaps that are growing in our country and our state. I'm ready to represent all Nebraskans - not just the ones who agree with me or look like me.”

He continued, “I'm running to bridge the gaps that divide us. That's what my candidacy is about, that's what my entire career has been about, and that's what I'll prioritize as your Senator. I'm excited to celebrate this announcement with my supporters today and build the movement we need to win this race.”

The campaign will embark on the statewide “Love Nebraska Listening Tour” in February, meeting with voters in every corner of the state. Love will speak with voters about the key issues he plans to address in his campaign, including healthcare access, economic urban and rural development, and climate action.

Love has received endorsements from elected officials and leaders across the state of Nebraska, including Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing, State Senator Terrell McKinney, State Senator Megan Hunt, and State Senator Tony Vargas. Nebraska State Senator Machaela Cavanaugh, another endorser, said, “I support Preston Love for U.S. Senate because he supports codifying women’s reproductive health rights at a federal level. We need leadership like that representing everyday Nebraskans.”

Love is challenging Senator Pete Ricketts for the U.S. Senate in November 2024. Love is a community advocate, adjunct professor teaching political science at the University of Nebraska Omaha, and a five-time published author who has worked in communities across Nebraska.
