Republican Attorney General Mike Hilgers Launches Re-Election Campaign
LINCOLN, Neb. – Today, Republican Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced his campaign for re-election. Since taking office in 2023, Hilgers has been a relentless fighter for Nebraskans. He has fought and defeated powerful interests, including the Biden Administration and California, while prosecuting criminals and defending Nebraska communities and values.
“We aspire to be the hardest working, most tenacious, entrepreneurial and conservative office in the country,” said Hilgers. “Every day we are defending Nebraskans’ rights. From beating the Biden Administration at the United States Supreme Court, to protecting children from predatory social media companies, fighting for Nebraska’s industries, and protecting low-cost energy and our critical water supplies—we work to honor the trust given to us by Nebraskans.”
Attorney General Hilgers’ courtroom victories have been significant and numerous. He has helped stop major overreach in energy and water, stopped California’s radical transformation of our nation’s trucking fleet, protected our agricultural community from increased input costs, and defend critical infrastructure in Nebraska. Hilgers has been a leader in fighting to ensure Nebraskans can defend themselves to stopping the Chinese Communist Party’s insidious influence through unsecure products and services. Hilgers ensured the integrity of our elections – he has achieved multiple felony convictions for election malfeasance, supported the Trump Administration’s efforts to protect voter rolls, and filed a landmark suit against foreign funding of Nebraska’s ballot initiatives. Hilgers has been a strong supporter of law enforcement – from visiting law enforcement in each of the state’s 93 counties in his first year to hosting regional meetings. Mike has stood with the men and women in uniform.
Mike starts his re-election campaign in a historically strong position. Among other things, he starts the campaign with a war chest of over $850,000 cash on hand—a Nebraska record for an incumbent Attorney General’s 1st re-election campaign.
Prior to taking office as Nebraska’s 33rd Attorney General, Mike Hilgers served six years in the Nebraska Legislature. During his tenure, Hilgers served as Speaker of the 107th Legislature, Chairman of the Executive Board, and Chairman of the Rules Committee. As a senator, Mike fought to defend the unborn, backed law enforcement, and safeguarded election integrity.
Born and raised in Nebraska, Mike understands the value of raising a family in the Cornhusker state. He and his wife, Heather, are raising their four children outside of Lincoln.
Mike received his degree in economics from Baylor University and law degree from the University of Chicago.
Before becoming Attorney General, Mike was a successful entrepreneur. He built a law firm from his basement in Lincoln, growing it to over 100 lawyers across the country, and was named 4 different times to Inc.’s list of 5,000 fastest growing companies in the country. He personally created high-paying jobs in Nebraska, and both recruited Nebraskans home and nationally recruited talented attorneys to come to Lincoln to be a part of his team.
