Dundy County-Stratton Football Season Ends in Howells

The Dundy County-Stratton Tiger Football team made the trip to Howells this past Friday to take on Howells-Dodge Jaguars for the D2 State Quarter Final playoff game. Howells-Dodge would get the football first to start the game and DCS would force the Jaguars to punt. DCS would take the lead in the first quarter 14-0 before Howells-Dodge would respond with two touchdowns of their own making the score 14-14, but DCS would grab the lead right back to make it 20-14 but that lead was short-lived after Howells-Dodge would take the kickoff to the house and convert the two-point conversion to lead 22-20 heading into halftime. DCS would respond with a 62yd touchdown to open the 3rd Quarter to take the lead 28-22, but then Howells-Dodge would score two consecutive touchdowns in the 3rd and 4th quarters and limiting the DCS offense. DCS would have the football and a chance to score a touchdown, but would also need the two-point conversion to tie the game and possibly send it to overtime. DCS would be faced with a 4th down and 3 situation from the Howells-Dodge 16yd line but failed to convert and DCS season would end with a record of 10-1 and Howells-Dodge survives the quarter-final round and will take a 9-2 record to Wynot for the D2 State Semi-Final game.
